ABOUT US

The North Carolina A&T Rural Teacher Residency is a highly selective graduate teacher residency program that prepares graduate candidates  to earn a North Carolina teaching license. The program equips candidates with the necessary knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on young people in rural counties in the Piedmont Triad region. The mission of the Teacher Residency program is to create a pipeline of culturally competent and highly skilled teachers commited to closing the achievement gap. Candidates must have a four-year college degree to participate.

To create a pipeline of culturally competent and highly skilled classroom teachers in the Piedmont Triad region of North Carolina committed to closing the achievement gap.

WHAT WE DO

We offer three program tracks for graduate-level candidates to teach in rural counties in the region: (1) Elementary Education for grades K-5 and (2) high school STEM Education in biology, chemistry, and mathematics.

WHO WE SERVE

We seek to prepare highly qualified individuals who are eligible for graduate studies and who have an affinity for working with youth in our local public schools in the Piedmont Triad.
