TEACHER RESIDENCY FOR RURAL SCHOOLS IN THE PIEDMONT TRIAD

This unique partnership between the College of Education at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University, Randolph County Schools, Stokes County Schools, Davidson County Schools and Caswell County Schools prepares future classroom teachers to engage young children and adolescents in rigorous, meaningful, hands on instruction using principles of culturally relevant pedagogy. We seek individuals who are highly motivated to teach, who have a passion for lifelong learning, who are committed to equity and social justice, who are open to receiving coaching from veteran classroom teachers, and who are resilient.

We strive to serve rural public schools because these districts are usually forgotten and ignored, which means the K-12 students in these areas may be disenfranchised. The College of Education at North Carolina A&T is dedicated to work with rural school districts in the Piedmont Triad to ensure students receive the highest quality instruction possible. With the faculty's focus on equity, access, and advocacy, the Teacher Residency program epitomizes the vision and mission of the College of Education.
